Floyd Dems: Regular Meeting

Regular Meeting of the Floyd County Democratic Committee Monday, February 19, 2024 6:30 pm at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library.

Featured speaker, Councilman Liam Watson, the youngest elected to the Blacksburg Town Council, will speak about Youth in Government. Also joining us, Sullivan Manley, Southwest Regional Vice-Chair for the Virginia Young Democrats.

Celebrating Black History Month, Floydian Donna Sweeney relates her story. Growing up in Floyd isn’t the same for everyone, but “You’ve got to do what’s right.” Suspended for 3 days, and then allowed to make up work with no zeros in all classes only because Mr. Hayden and fellow NAACP leaders went to school to fight for them.

The Presidential Primary is Tuesday, March 5th, and we’ll be discussing Floyd Dems action plan for the day.
